Some records show John S. Barlow under the surname BarLAR and even as BarLER.
Like the William Henry Barlow (Barlar) branch, the descendants of John S., Barlow (those who remained in the Giles County, TN area) eventually permanently began using the BarLAR surname. However, the descendants of Charles P. Barlow (older brother of John S.), appear to have retained the original Barlow surname.
